How to become a sommelier at the Gualtiero Marchesi cooking school

Bormioli Rocco sponsors the course organized by Alma. The official presentation will be held at the Reggia di Colorno on 5th and 6th of October

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Oct 06, 2008 – Bormioli Rocco is sponsoring an international course for sommeliers, organized by Alma, the Italian cooking school directed by Gualtiero Marchesi. The official presentation of the initiative is scheduled for 5th and 6th of October at the Reggia di Colorno, on the occasion of the two days dedicated to the culinary excellence of foods "made in Italy".

To learn the rules and art of tasting, the students can count on a selected group of teachers and acquire practice in the classrooms at Alma, the ancient residence of Duchess Maria Luigia, now endowed with the most advanced teaching structures: classrooms for practical demonstrations and training, a library with 6000 volumes, as well as the kitchen and the restaurant.
The apprentice sommeliers will learn to use wine decanters, drip-stop, professional corkscrews and, of course, wine tasting glasses, from the Premium collection, a line of the Home Division of Bormioli Rocco produced in cooperation with Ais, the Italian Sommelier Association.
From the passion for glass and the wine culture comes a collection for the professionals of today and tomorrow. Elegant, clean shapes designed specifically to exalt the organoleptic features of reds and whites. The stem is long and slender to prevent the warmth of the hand from altering the bouquet of a Barolo or a spumante. Moreover, thanks to innovative laser technology, the edge of the bowl is extra thin to make its contact with the lips more enjoyable. Produced in fine crystal glass, these wine glasses gleam like crystal and are impact resistant and washable in the dishwasher.

The design and practicality of use of Bormioli Rocco products will be the focus of the gala dinner celebrating the initiative. The fine wine glasses and glassware of the Symposium line will embellish the tables while, in the Lounge, a sophisticated menu of finger food will be served in the Amuse Bouche glasses.
