The thermoforming process involves forming a heated sheet of plastic over a form shaped like the soon to be packaged product. For instance, a cell phone manufacturer might make a full sized model of the cell phone out of wood, Styrofoam or metal and use thermoforming to shape a plastic package around it.
The cell phone would then fit snugly into the package with no wiggle room to allow damage to the phone. This allows customers at a store to see the finer attributes of the cell phone without having to rely on a photograph on the side of a cardboard box to reflect what they will be getting.
Impact MFG will use a thermoforming process to manufacture packaging to any customer's specifications. Alternatively, Impact MFG has artists and engineers on hand to help customers design their product packaging.
