The issue of contact is doing more harm to children than anything else. The governments of today are not taking into account the long term problems for children that are affected by the present policy on the one sided family laws. The law makers have absolutely no idea what is happening in ordinary homes and have been ignoring the problem for too long.
1) They are being used as weapons for revenge on ex partners and grandparents. Every body
knows somebody this is happening too. If contact was legal for non resident parents and
grandparents who have done no wrong then children could not be used in this way..
2) Blackmail is used to gain control and manipulate other family members anxious about the welfare of the
Children. “You will not see the children if you don’t do what I want”
3) When contact is disallowed and a child is living in danger homes (100,00 alcohol and 50,000 drug users in Scotland named the drug capitol of Europe), the abuse a child suffers can go on undetected causing much physical, emotional and mental damage that can affect the child all of its life. The abuser is being protected by law in not allowing other family contact.
4) ‘Alienation’
grandparents even when they have done no wrong. The only reason being the resident parent wants
full manipulative control and the child grows up with a distorted outlook in life.
5) A resident parent can have a different partner every night without vetting but non-resident parents or
grandparents that have done no wrong are not allowed contact and are besides themselves with worry
about how their child is being treated, worry that is often justifiable. No one treats a child like its own
loving parents or grandparents do.
6) Social services in their drive to save money and reach adoption target bonuses use
‘Alienation’
child more subjective to their wishes and more desirable to adopters when they do not have
family ties. The adoption then goes through without any members of that child’s family
being informed, causing devastation to that child.
A child may forget its birth family by blocking out the painful memory but the damage has
been done and is with that child all it’s life, never really trusting or daring to
love someone ever again.
The social services are certainly reaching their bonus targets. But at what price to our
children. Social services are getting results now on cutting costs but leaving more problems
for the child in the future. The ‘Best Interests of the Child’ has been replaced by treating
them as commodities to be dealt with as quickly and cheaply as possible
