Sometime in the spring of 1980 I have decided making a Rock Band. Dodi and I were classmates. We were attending the same music school accustomed to being on stage. We felt the need of expressing ourself,and used to go out to the best youth parks in Budapest, like: Budai, Csepeli, Lorinci, and the Csepeli paper factories club, etc. We would have wanted to play great loud concerts like the biggest bands of the day.
Dodi, and Fazek (Pot) resided on the same street. Fazek already new how to run a band, and also was the oldest amongst us, so he became the leader of the group Blicc,(and he did a really good job at it I might ad).Only one more member was needed: a drummer. It was hard finding a good one, but luckily met with one named Dagadt (chubby).He didn’t have a set of drums so we made one for him out of plastic cans and boxes. Dagadt played the ”bass drum ”with a piece wood tied to his shoes. We only had a 10 Watts PA, and one speaker. All were “passive” mixed together, so the loudest instrument ruled, and the rest were distorted. (just the sound we were looking for)
Our practice “hall” was an old tool shed, things started getting noisy, and boy, the neighbors sure were long suffering.
After a couple times playing together we new that we were going to be really good. Soon after started improving our equipment, Dagi got a drum, that we used as a bass drum, and a cymbal, attached to a fishing rod, used as a stand. His parents saw his dedication, and decided getting him a snare drum, it sure was a “great” thing.
Things started picking up, we wrote “original”
As winter was approaching we had to find a heated practice hall, we managed to come up with a large basement, where we had our first concert, and became the band Blicc Rock.
Played in schools, youth camps, before well known bands, learned about the bright, and dark side of the industry. Our equipment as well our music got better, learned from pro musicians, and music teachers. As years went by we finished high school, and started working. Dodi moved on with his life started college in a different town .Three of us Fazek me ,and Dagadt kept going formed a Rock theater. Our artistic adventure came to a sudden end bringing fruit in the marrige of Fazek without him there was no band, and that is how the story of Blicc Rock Group ended sometime in 1985 .
