FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

PRLog (Press Release)Nov 29, 2006 – The Kay Meek Centre Main Stage serves up magical, spectacular, affordable family entertainment in its first annual musical Panto ALADDIN presented by Pacific Dreams Theatre Society. It’s uplifting hilarity for the entire family for the holiday season! Laugh out loud here, split a gut until you shed a tear, cheer and jeer, shout out things like "he went that way!" and "watch out, there's a stranger behind you!" Groan and moan, hiss and boo, too. These are a few of the audience's favourite things to do at the Kay Meek Centre's wacky family musical pantomime, ALADDIN, from December 21 to January 6.

Glorious, colourful, spectacular sets with a big cast, music, special effects and magic bring a unique experience everyone - from tots to seniors - will appreciate. A timeless tale for the young and the young at heart, ALADDIN is wickedly fun - and affordable. Kids 10 and under are just $10, which makes it a terrific event for the whole family. The excitement of attending a traditional British panto is a unique wonder to experience. Pantomime has evolved over centuries in England, and Vancouver loves British humour. We invite you to come with us now to live inside a tale where magic and fairies help heroes vanquish villains for a happily ever after feeling. This is a traditional pantomime, which is a musical comedy based on a fairy tale. There is no other form of entertainment like it, and you will feel giddy with unabashed delight!

Gil Hayward directs ALADDIN and stars as the hopeless demon; he was the original immortal Hot Dog Demon Distastely at The Metro Theatre for six years straight and was honoured with a Community Theatre Coalition Award as Best Actor in a Musical in 2002 for Aladdin. Neil Minor, a well-known Jessie nominated B.C. actor, is the Genie released by Mya Wollf’s magnetic Aladdin. Jamie Robinson is the lovely princess Jasmine. Alan Cedargreen, who has 30 pantomimes under his belt, will be playing his favourite role, Widow Twankey. Sean Allan, President of The West Vancouver Chamber of Commerce, is the Grand Vizier and Tony Bordingnon is Emperor King Nuk-Nuk. Frankie Cena is Wishee Washee, Miles Lavkulich is the Executioner and Cayla Brooke is Empress Queen Nip n Tuk. Pamela Podmoroff has magic up her sleeve as Fairy Tu-Tu. The cast is joined by a chorus of fifteen featuring Cayla Brooke, Will Chen, Maribeth Ching, Stephanie Ching, Alison Keir, Emily Chambers, Ali Mitchell, Fiona McIntyre, Shadi Malek, Wendy Maxwell, Madeleine Peters, Charlie Costello, with R.N.B. Dancers Kim Dixon, Audrey Kwan, Autumn Lightfoot, Ella Batten, Joffrey Batten, Jackson White, and Kase Overes led by Choreographer Ken Overbey, with Musical Director Danny Balkwill. Set Design by Chris Oliver, Lighting Design by Michael Schaldemose and Sound Design by William Moysey.
